DURAPOXY™ is a 100% solids, extremely low V.O.C., two-component epoxy / amine heavy duty industrial protective epoxy and floor system. It provides a high gloss, tile like, seamless, hygienic surface that is extremely hard wearing and durable. This coating is engineered to bond to most any surface, resist wear and tear from impact and abrasion, and has stain resistance formulated to deter oil, grease, gasoline, strong detergents, salts and other difficult to clean contaminants. Cured DURAPOXY™ is highly resistant to a broad range of chemicals, including caustics, acids, salts, fuels and solvents. DURAPOXY™ is a self leveling, easy to apply coating that is generally applied as a clear coat but can be tinted using compatible solvent based colorants. It can be applied to both horizontal and vertical surfaces. On horizontal surfaces a wide range of thicknesses can be used depending on desired effect and application. The coating can also be applied to provide a nonskid texture with the addition of SKID-EX™ aggregate.

DURAPOXY™ is suitable for use on most any horizontal or vertical surface in the toughest conditions. It can be used in tanks, restrooms, locker rooms, shower stalls, meat packing plants, dairies, restaurants, schools, hospitals, factories, maintenance shops, water tanks, sewage tanks, covered car washes, parking garages, and everywhere a tough, highly cleanable, chemical and solvent resistant coating is needed. DURAPOXY™ should only be applied where it will not be exposed to direct sunlight.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
Clean dirt, oil, grease and soap off of the surface with the appropriate cleanser and rinse thoroughly. Remove all mildew, algae and mold off of the surface with a chlorine solution (2 quarts pool chlorine to 4½ gallons water) and rinse thoroughly. Remove all loose paint and powdery substances by scraping and pressure washing. Clean metal surfaces of oil, grease and foreign matter before painting. Rust must be removed from ferrous metal before priming. Concrete must be acid etched at least twice to insure proper penetration. Repeat acid etching, if necessary, until visible pores appear in surface. The surface should feel like #80 sandpaper after etching. Rinse surface thoroughly. Glazed Ceramic Tile must be thoroughly chemically etched or sanded.
Patch all holes, cracks, seams and imperfections with a mix of DURAPOXY™ and Sand (Add sand to a desired consistency).
PRIMERS:
Ceramic Tile: None (When prepared properly, as stated above unless primed with ENVIROPOXY™.)
Cement Walls and Floors: None (When prepared properly, as stated above.)
Ferrous Metal: None (When prepared properly, as stated above.)
Non-Ferrous Metal: None (When prepared properly, as stated above.)
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Stir the Amine (5950A) and the Epoxy (5950B) components separately prior to mixing. Thoroughly mix 1 part of Amine (5950A) to 2 parts of Epoxy (5950B). Mix slowly and thoroughly so that air is not mixed into the mixture. The mixture can be applied once thoroughly blended. The gel time (pot life) is 30 to 45 minutes. The mixture can be thinned with xylene if needed. Mix xylene with the Amine (5950A) first, then mix in the Epoxy (5950B). Apply immediately. Do not apply when temperatures are below 45 degrees Fahrenheit or when humidity is very high. Drying time may vary depending on temperature, humidity and location. Spread coating uniformly with brush roller or spray. DURAPOXY™ is recommended to be applied at a maximum wet film thickness of 60 mils. Multiple coats can be applied to achieve desired thickness. Wait a minimum of 8 hours between coats. Spread Rate may vary depending on profile and porosity of the surface. Let surface dry for 12 hours for pedestrian traffic and 36 hours for vehicular traffic.
Note - Water Tank Interiors: 3 light coats of 5 to 7 wet mils each should be used for water tank interiors. The 3 coats are necessary to fill any pinholes that may occur in each coat of the DURAPOXY™. Each coat should be applied in a cross hatch pattern, i.e. first coat up and down, second coat left to right. This should result in a finished application of at least 15 mils dry when complete.
COLORS & TINTING:
DURAPOXY™ is available in clear and clear base and can be tinted with appropriate solvent based colorants. Tinting should be done by adding colorant to Part A the Amine, before mixing the Amine and Epoxy. Call for assistance if needed.
CLEAN UP:
Clean up all spills, tools and overspray immediately while the coating is still wet with Xylene.
