CERAMIC SHIELD™ can be used on most wall, ceiling & trim surfaces such as plaster, wallboard, wood, concrete, brick, masonry, metal (no rust), well bonded wallpaper and various other substrates. Rust must be primed with METAL-PRIME RED OX™, Red Iron Oxide Primer Sealer. CERAMIC SHIELD™ is excellent for most residential, commercial and industrial applications.
STAINS:
Spot prime all stains before priming entire area. CERAMIC SHIELD™ Primer Sealer will seal most stains. If stain persists, a compatible stain blocker must be used. Wood knots should be spot primed with shellac. Pressure treated wood must be aged at least 6 months before priming.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES:
Wash off all dirt, grease, soap and oil build-up with a powdered household cleaner and water. Rinse thoroughly. Remove loose paint and powdery substances. Patch cracks and holes with patching paste. Dull any nonporous or glossy surfaces by thorough washing with an abrasive kitchen cleaner or by scuff sanding. Rinse and/or remove any powdery residues. Spot prime patched areas before painting entire wall with CERAMIC SHIELD™ Paint.
UNPAINTED SURFACES:
Drywall: Fill nail holes and cracks with patching paste. Remove all dirt and loose material. Spot prime patched areas before priming entire wall with CERAMIC SHIELD™ Primer Sealer.
Plastered Walls: Surface must be dry, cured and hard. Textured or swirl types and soft porous or powdery plaster must be treated with a solution of one pint household vinegar in one gallon of water. Repeat until surface is hard. Rinse with plain water. Let dry and apply a coat of CERAMIC SHIELD™ Primer Sealer.
Metal: Clean surface of all grease, oil and foreign matter before priming. Rusted metal and galvanized metal must be primed with METAL-PRIME RED-OX™, a Red Iron Oxide Primer Sealer.
Masonry: Prime masonry before painting. New masonry must either be sealed with CHALK-FORCE™ or aged 60 days before priming.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Stir well before using. Thinning is not recommended but if necessary use water sparingly. Do not apply when temperatures are below 40 degrees Fahrenheit or when humidity is very high. Apply using brush, roller or spray. When rolling, apply in an N pattern first, then cross roll to spread paint, and finish with light roller strokes in downward direction. Always roll or brush from untouched into wet paint areas. Allow at least 4 hours to dry before applying the first coat of CERAMIC SHIELD™ paint.
CLEAN UP:
Clean up all spills, tools and overspray immediately while the coating is still wet with warm soapy water.
