1. QUESTION: What are the thermal properties of the #7020 SNOWBRITE™, #7595 PERMABOND™,
#7525 PERMAKOTE® and #5790 METAL-PRIME?
ANSWER: Of the Four Products, only SNOWBRITE™ and PERMAKOTE® contain a mixture of ceramics. We
replace the inexpensive fillers with high quality ceramic pigments and microscopic hollow ceramic borosilicates
to provide insulating and soundproofing properties. PERMAKOTE® contains a higher concentration of ceramics,
so thermal properties will be better than SNOWBRITE™. This question does not have a specific answer because
there are many variables to consider such as: How many coats and how thick the coating is applied (mils), the
surface (substrate) the coating is being applied to, atmospheric conditions, etc. Each project will provide different
results depending on the many variables, see PERMAKOTE® R-VALUE GRAPH and THERMAL EMITTANCE reports.
OTHER NATIONWIDE PRODUCTS with CERAMIC Content: CERAMIC SHIELD™, CERAMIC FORCE®, ULTRA SEAL™,
ULTRA TEX™, ULTRA KOTE™, ULTRA KOTE XL™, ENCAPSULGAURD™, BUS-KOTE™, SNOWBRITE™, INSULKOTE™,
PERMAKOTE® and PERMAKOTE PLUS®.

2. QUESTION: What is the R-value of the above, and how do these values compare with mass insulation?
ANSWER: There is no R-Value yet for liquid coatings, but it can produce an insulation equivalent of up to R-17,
and when used on exterior roofs (PERMAKOTE®) and walls (ULTRA SEAL™) using our Standard White Color, we
can achieve equivalent R-values of up to R-24 because of the high reflective values of the coatings.

3. QUESTION: How does PERMAKOTE® outperform 4 inches of foam insulation?
ANSWER: The foam insulation is placed on the UNDER-SIDE of the roof, while PERMAKOTE® is coated on the
TOP-SIDE of the roof. When temperatures are taken under the roof, PERMAKOTE outperforms the insulation
because of the Ceramic Content that dissipates the heat and the High Reflective Value.

4. QUESTION: What's the difference between a radiant heat barrier
(Nationwide Product) and a conductive heat barrier?
ANSWER: Nationwide’s Ceramic Coatings will reduce heat in both forms. Radiant Heat could be heat from the
sun that is absorbed and dissipated by the coatings, while conductive heat would travel through the surface,
such as exposed metal on a metal roof, but once it encounters the coating, the heat will also dissipate.

5. QUESTION: Define dry film thickness, theoretical coverage, and solids by volume, solids by weight,
in relationship to Nationwide Products?
ANSWER(S): FILM THICKNESS: is measured in mils or microns. 1 mil = .001 inches = 25.4 microns. Nationwide
Chemical Coatings uses mils as the mode of measuring film thickness. A 100% Solids Material applied at 100 square
feet per gallon = 16 mils wet film thickness and 16 mils dry film thickness (since it is 100% solids, there is nothing
to evaporate). Therefore a 50% Solids Material applied at 100 square feet per gallon = 16 mils wet film thickness
and 8 mils dry film thickness.
Theoretical Coverage or Theoretical Spread Rate: Allows for application loss (such as material lost while spraying),
and surface irregularities when determining working requirements.
SOLIDS BY VOLUME: the volume of the non-volatile portion of paint/coating divided by the total volume, expressed
as a percent. A 1 Gallon can of Paint that had 50% solids by volume would equal a 1/2 gallon of total solids.
SOLIDS BY WEIGHT: the portion of a paint/coating that remains as part of the dry film thickness expressed as weight.
A 1 Gallon can of paint that weighs 12 pounds and had 50% solids by weight would equal 6 pounds of total solids.

6. QUESTION: Will Nationwide’s Ceramic Coatings provide additional insulation value if the dry film thickness is increased?
ANSWER: Yes, but will be cost effective with 2 or 3 coats, the added insulation value will be cost prohibitive after
25 to 30 mils of dry film thickness is reached.

7. QUESTION: What is the impact of color relative to reflectivity on Nationwide’s Ceramic Coatings?
ANSWER: Nationwide’s Standard Bright White Color is the most efficient, once even a little bit of color is added,
reflective properties are dramatically decreased, see COLOR VALUE CHART.

8. QUESTION: What surfaces need special preparation?
ANSWER: All surfaces must be clean and dry. Rust must be treated. Request a product data sheet for information.

9. QUESTION: What is the thermal transmittance value (U-factor) and how does it apply to Nationwide Products.
ANSWER: See Thermal Emittance Report.

10. QUESTION: What is the average shelf life for Nationwide Products?
ANSWER: The minimum shelf life is One Year. We have found many of our products to be stable, if not opened,
for up to 3 years. Nationwide uses one of the highest quality IN-CAN-PRESERVATIVES available on the market.

11. QUESTION: If Nationwide’s Ceramic Coatings keeps the heat out during the summer, will it keep the heat in
during the winter?
ANSWER: Nationwide’s Ceramic Coatings are much more effective in keeping the heat out in the summer, but will,
to a lesser degree, keep the heat in during the winter.

12. QUESTION: How do you prove the fact that Nationwide’s Ceramic Coatings are effective and that it is
as good or better than traditional insulation?
ANSWER: Depending upon the specific application, we cannot replace traditional insulation, but we can add to
the insulating value of certain projects. The fact that the coatings are so easy to apply and can be used most
anywhere, particularly in places where traditional insulation can not be used, makes it an acceptable substitution.

13. QUESTION: What is the effect of applying a clear coating on top of Nationwide Products?
ANSWER: A clear product such as our PERMACLEAR™ or ULTRA CLEAR™ can be used over our pigmented products
for aesthetic value (gloss) and extra protection. The clear products can only be applied over FULLY CURED
(minimum 30 days Full Cure Time) compatible latex products.

14. QUESTION: Why is it that Nationwide Products have such high solar reflectivity values?
ANSWER: Nationwide’s Exterior Coatings are formulated with not only Titanium Dioxide, but with a mixture of
“Trade Secret” pigments, which actually enhance the reflective values.

15. QUESTION: What is the temperature range of service for the Nationwide Products?
ANSWER: Nationwide’s Ceramic Coatings will perform at most any temperature, but we find that the products perform
the best at temperatures above 0 degrees Fahrenheit, but not to exceed 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

16. QUESTION: Will Nationwide’s Ceramic Coatings be effective on steam pipes?
ANSWER: Nationwide’s Ceramic Coatings can be used on tanks and pipes, we have had many customers use the
products successfully on steam pipes (not over 400 degrees Fahrenheit), but we can not warranty these applications
because there are too many variables involved in the service of the coating on steam pipes.
Recommended Products: ULTRAKOTE™ or ULTRAKOTE XL™.

17. QUESTION: What is the most effective way to correct a bubbling or blistering problem on a roof?
ANSWER: Bubbling or Blistering on a roof surface is caused by “Gas Checking”, which is trapped gases that can be
formed by moisture, asphaltic emulsion, chemicals, etc. When a blister occurs, simply cut an “X” in the blister and let
it dry out thoroughly. Once dry apply a liberal amount of PERMABOND under the flaps of the “X” to glue it down. Once
the PERMABOND is dry, you can coat over with any of our Roof Coating Products.
